Other documents appear to cite different facts regarding her age at various points in time. These state the following:

Marian Nye was born in 1909. That fact is confirmed by the 1910 federal census. Her name appears with her parents Dewitt Clinton Nye and Mary Elizabeth NEY Nye. It shows her name as Marrion E Nye, aged 5/12 years old. Since the census was taken in April, it would appear that she was born in November. One must remember that the census taker was not allowed to ask how a name was spelled. This was to avoid the possibility that the family might be illiterate.

Marrion E Nye 0 - This indexed age should be showing as 5/12th not zero, but perhaps the indexing rules state that any age below the age of 1 will be entered as zero by the indexer.

Note: Familysearch.org did not have the Alger County Birth Indexes or film in their Card Catalogue so verifying or document her birth in Michigan does not appear to be likely as of November 15, 2017. A copy of her birth record was obtained and the facts stated above confirm her actual, true, date of birth and names her parents.

Her family lived in Ohio in 1920 and Marian is listed as being 10. In 1925, the family lived in NY and the state census shows that Marian is 15 years old. In 1930, the family lived in Algona, Washington and Marian's age is shown as 20. Thus, it would appear that she was born in 1910 or possibly 1909, depending on the day that the census was taken.

Marian started listing herself as being younger than her actual age. In the 1940 census, she is shown as 28 years of age. She apparently listed her birth year as 1911 in subsequent documents.

In addition Suite P wrote: Marian Nye was my sister's aunt. The birth year listed on her marker is actually incorrect. She is listed in the 1910 federal census as 5 months old.

Marian's mother was Mary Elizabeth Ney. Apparently, Mary moved down to the Bay area before 1930 and the kids stayed with their father, DeWitt Clinton Nye, Sr. Mary NEY Nye died in Napa in 1975. I don't know where Mary is buried.
