In his early life, he lived in Stephens County and was a nephew of C.Y. "Cowboy" Coker.

Survivors: his wife - Dr. Christiane G. Cook of Palo Alto, CA; daughter - Christine L. Stone of Palm Desert, CA; brother - Zearl Lewis Cook of Berkeley, CA; sister - Elsie Cretsinger of Breckenridge; three grandchildren; one aunt - Mrs. W.E. "Etta" Kirkland of Breckenridge.
