LA QUINTA, Calif. — Charlie Kenneth Herr, 71, of La Quinta, Calif., formerly of Muenster, passed away Sept. 2, 2011 in Rancho Mirage, Calif.

He was born in Muenster on Jan. 27, 1940 to Ida Mae and Frank Herr.

Charlie attended school at Sacred Heart Catholic School in Muenster until he went to Subiaco Academy in Subiaco, Ark. where he graduated from high school.

He then attended Texas Tech University. He graduated from pharmacy school from Southwestern State College of Pharmacy in Weatherford, Okla. in 1963. He was a practicing pharmacist for 48 years. He held pharmacy licenses in 10 states.

He served his country proudly as a 1st Lieutenant in the United States Air Force. He was based at Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio. He served as Chief Medical Supply Officer which took him worldwide being in charge of and setting up medical supply offices.

After his service to his country, he began his lifelong endeavor of practicing pharmacy. He owned and operated pharmacies of his own, along with partnerships in three pharmacy corporations over the years.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Cheryl Fowler Herr of the home; daughter, Courtney Donnelly, son-in-law, Travis Donnelly and precious grandson, Jackson James Donnelly of Los Angeles, Calif; his brothers, Ronnie Herr (Alma) of Gainesville; Tom Herr (Virgella) of Muenster; sister, Della Walterscheid (Denis, deceased) of Muenster; sister, Joanie Price (Jim) of Denton; sister-in-law, Patsy Williams (Max) of Oklahoma City, Okla.

He is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ida Mae and Frank Herr; brothers, Joseph and Melvin; nephew, Kenny Walterscheid; brother-in-law, Denis Walterscheid and nephew, Michael Dale Williams.

A rosary is planned for 6 p.m., Friday evening, Sept. 23, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

A memorial mass is planned for 10 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 24, 2011.

Burial with military honors will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Muenster.
