Mr. Charles W. Acton, 81 of Seymour, passed away Sunday, September 18, 2011 in Seymour with his family by his side.
Born September 26, 1929, in Bartholomew County, IN, he was the son of Thornton and Verna (Otte) Acton
On November 5, 1948, in Seymour, he married Betty Franklin who survives.
Mr. Acton was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Waymansville. He served in the US Army. He had been employed as a truck driver, and worked at Arvins for 10 years, Panasote for 22 years, H.O. Canfield, Fosbrink Farms, Cortland Produce, and Polley Building Supply from where he retired. He enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening, and pitching horse shoes. He loved being with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his children, Allen (Bev) Acton, Billy (Debbie) Acton, Beatrice (Jack) Hercamp, Carol (Jim) Johnson, Brian ( friend, Annette) Acton, grandchildren, Mark (Lisa) Acton, Matt (Amanda) Acton, Shawn Acton, Jaison Acton, Jennifer Acton, Melanie (Mark) Koch, Cody (Jennifer) Hercamp, Zachery Ping, Sara Johnson, 10 great grandchildren, sisters, Elsie (Harold) Spurgeon, Donna Griffith, Alberta Marshall, brothers, Don (Dorothy) Acton, Carl (Lee) Acton, Irvin (Carolyn) Acton, Wendell (Gail) Acton, Herrell (Judy) Acton, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, Charles E. Acton, sister, Buleah Tatlock and infant brothers, Theodore and Ronnie Dale Acton.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 21, at 11:00 AM at the St. Peter Lutheran Church, Waymansville, with Pastor John Beabout officiating.
Burial will follow at St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery, Waymansville, with full military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled Veterans 47, Korean and Vietnam Veterans, all of Seymour.
Visitation will be Tuesday, September 20, at Voss Chapel from 4 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Waymansville after 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
Memorials may be given to the St. Peter Lutheran Church Building Fund, Salvation Army or Donor's Choice.
