On 20 Dec 1862 Charles ended military service with the 15th Massachusetts by discharge due to disability.

On 6 Sep 1909, after the death of his first wife, Charles, then 70, married Sarah E. Prescott, 69, daughter of Sylvester and Tryphena Bassett (Fairbanks) Prescott, at Worcester, Worcester County, Massachusetts, in a second marriage for both. She was the widow of William B. Boothby (Find A Grave Memorial# 8717206).
Charles E. Braman died on 23 Dec 1922 at Upton, Worcester County, Massachusetts. He was 83 years and 10 months old.
