James was born to William Garland Adams and Katie Marie Lane in Phoenix, Ariz. He lived most of his life in San Saba County around the Richland Springs area. He graduated from W. H. Gibbons High School in Richland Springs in 1938. After he returned to Richland Springs, he stayed active by helping the Agriculture Department. He was an avid member of the booster club and helped with the little league baseball association in Richland Springs.
He was married to Marjorie Tate on July 7, 1947, in Stephenville, Texas. She preceded him in death. Also
preceding him in death were one son, Kenneth Adams; one brother, Dean Adams; and one sister, Milowee Mills.
Survivors include a brother, G. P. (Press) Adams of Richland Springs; a sister, Billie Beth Gaddy of Fort
Worth; a nephew, Dean Adams Jr.; nieces, Donna Wigley, Linda Rogers, Georganna Sonnenberg, Mary Kate Adams, Paula Shannon, Marsha Bauman, Sara Martin, Dana Beth Gaddy, and Lisa Anderson; 16 greatnieces and nephews; 15 great-great-nieces and nephews; and numerous cousins. Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. today at the First Christian Church of Richland Springs. Services will be following at 2 p.m. with John Pennington officiating.
Burial will be in the Richland Springs Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Heritage
Funeral Home in San Saba. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of Brownwood Skilled Nursing Home and the Lighthouse Hospice. They also request that all donations be made to First Christian Church, P.O. Box 96, Richland Springs, Texas.
