Rounsevell Mortuary records of Lead state that he was born in Iowa on November 9, 1895; died at St. Joseph's Hospital in Deadwood March "9," 1935; died of lobar pneumonia; laborer; age 39 years 4 months; father - Arand Kampen, born Germany; mother - Katherine ___, born Germany; funeral held on March 13, 1935; funeral charged to Alma Kampen of 114 1/2 South Gold Street in Lead.

Back Home After Being Wounded in Argonne Forest Drive.
Thomas Kampen arrived on the Northwestern yesterday to make a visit at the home of his sister, Mrs. Chas. A. Nelson, 405 South Mill St. He has just returned from France where he went over the top three times and got wounded in the Argonne woods drive on November 1. He was in the hospital one month. He arrived in the states the 12th of December. He was discharged from service and expects to go to work for the Homestake.

Lutheran Rites Will Be Held On Wednesday Afternoon At Rounsevell Chapel.
Thomas Kampen, 39, employee of the Montana-Dakota Power company, and well known in this city, died about 7:45 o'clock last evening at St. Joseph's hospital in Deadwood of pneumonia, following a week's illness.
Born at Ecley, Iowa, November 9, 1895, he came to Lead February 7, 1919, from Fulda, Minn., and was united in marriage the same year to Miss Alma Nelson in this city. In 1925 Mr. and Mrs. Kampen went to Pontiac, Mich., and after a nine years' residence there returned to Lead two years ago. The deceased was a World war veteran, enlisting in Minneapolis. He served overseas seven months.
Survivors are his wife, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arend Kampen of Pontiac, Mich., former Lead residents, two sisters, Mrs. Charles Nelson, Pontiac, and Mrs. Jacob Myers of Jackson, Minn. Another sister, Mrs. William Randolph of Kirk preceded him in death two years ago. Mrs. T.J. Thomson, Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Nelson of Lead, and Mr. and Mrs. William Nelson of Hill City are relatives of Mrs. Kampen.
Lutheran rites will be held in his memory Wednesday at 2:30 from the Rounsevell chapel and interment will be in the municipal cemetery in South Lead.

Kampen Services Will Be Wednesday
Funeral services for the late Thos. Kampen, whose death came Sunday evening at St. Joseph's hospital at Deadwood, will be held tomorrow afternoon at the chapel of the Rounsevell funeral home. Members of the Homestake post oft he American Legion, to which Mr. Kampen belonged, will attend the services in a body and military rites will be performed at the grave in South Lead cemetery in honor of the deceased's service overseas during the World war.

Military honors, sponsored by the American Legion, were accorded the late Thomas Kampen, World war veteran, whose funeral was conducted this afternoon at 2:30 from the Rounsevell funeral home. Many friends oft he family were gathered there to honor his memory and the casket was covered with the American flag.
The escort was composed of a group detailed from Company E., national guard, and at the graveside in the municipal cemetery in South Lead a firing squad gave the last salute and the bugle sounding taps.
