John Schutz, Sr., 92, of Cedar Lake, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, July 2 1995 at St. Anthony Hospital, Crown Point, Indiana.
Mr. Schutz was the former owner and founder on May 25, 1925 of the Center Garage in Cedar Lake. He was a Charter member of the Cedar Lake Lions and the Cedar Lake Fire Department. He was a member of: the National Automobile Dealers Association, Greater Chicago Auto Dealers Association, Lake County Auto Dealers Association and Cedar Lake Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his wife, Cecilia (nee Klein); four daughters, Joan Buczek and Lucille (Norbert) Shroka of Cedar Lake, Betty (Wayne) Harper of Lake Village, Indiana and Marietta (John) Palmer of Tempe, Arizona; one son, Robert (Daine) Schutz of Elk Grove Village, Illinois; two daughters-in-law, Phyllis Schutz of Louisville, Kentucky and Sharon Schutz of Whiting, Indiana; 22 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his former wife, Agnes B., two sons, Jack and Leon and son-in-law, Gene Buczek.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 6, 1995, 10 a.m. at Holy Name Church in Cedar Lake, Indiana, with Msgr. William Martin officiating. Interment at Holy Name Cemetery, Cedar Lake, Indiana. Friends may call at the Eller-Brady Funeral Home, 8510 Lake Shore Drive, Cedar Lake, Indiana on Wednesday from 2 to 9 p.m.
