Merlin E. Meyer, age 83, of Sheboygan, died Sunday September 18, 2011 at the Bay Area Medical Center in Marinette, WI after a brief illness. He was born in the town of Meeme, Manitowoc County on November 14, 1927, a son of the late Theodore and Laura (Olm) Meyer. Merlin attended Pigeon River Elementary and graduated from Kiel High School in 1945.

Margene Sommer and Merlin Meyer were united in marriage on September 12, 1953 at St. Marks U.C.C. in the town of Mosel. Merlin had been employed at Hayssen Manufacturing over 25 years, and later was a Forman at the Enzo Pac Company, retiring in 1994.

Merlin was a former member of the Howards Grove Fire Department over 25 years, and was formerly on the consistory of St. John's United Church of Christ, Schwarzwald. Currently a member of Ebenezer United Church of Christ, Merlin had been active in the Men's Breakfast Club, Senior Citizens Dartball Team.

Surviving Merlin is his loving wife of 58 years, Margene, one son, Terry (Lynn) Meyer and a daughter, Mary Jo Woods, both of Appleton; two grandchildren, Caroline Woods and Jordan Meyer; three step grandchildren, Alicia Wagner, Starleen Wagner and Savannah Begay; one brother-in-law, Delmar Sommer of Howards Grove, a sister-in-law, Lois Meyer of the town of Sheboygan as well as nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Merlin was also preceded in death by a brother, Donald, and a sister-in-law Janet Sommer.

A Memorial Service will be held for Merlin on Thursday September 22, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Ebenezer United Church of Christ, 3215 Saemann Ave in Sheboygan. Reverend Roger Mealiff, pastor, will officiate. Inurnment will be in St. John's Cemetery, Town of Herman.
