Mary King, age 67, of Dodgeville, passed away on Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at U.W. Hospital following a brief illness. The former Mary Butteris was born on May 26, 1944 in Dodgeville to Milton and Esther (Daley) Butteris and was a 1962 graduate of the Dodgeville High School. She married Clifford King on September 10, 1977 in Madison and they moved to Dodgeville in 1982. Mary was Network Administrator for Ameritech, retiring in 1994 after 28 years of service. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, H.W. Schroeder Club where she served as President from 1995 – 1997 and as Treasurer from 1997 – 2000. She founded the Pioneer Newsletter and wrote and edited it from 1994 – 2000. She also organized the Pioneer Store which raised money for charity. Mary was a dedicated member of the Dodgeville United Methodist Church and the U.M.W. She was very active in her community and served as treasurer for many groups. Her community involvement included: Lower Wisconsin River Habitat for Humanity; Bloomfield Manor Auxiliary; Iowa County Historical Society; Genealogy Society, The United Fund of Iowa County; Dodgeville Kiwanis Club where she was involved with the Concession Stand at Governor Dodge State Park; Iowa County Homemakers and the U.W. Extension. Mary also loved to read, go for rides in the country and play card games with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford on December 4, 1991; her parents; a brother, Glenn Butteris; and a sister, Patricia Buckingham and her husband, Donald.

Mary is survived by two brothers, Gary (Karen) Butteris of Dodgeville and William (Suzie) Butteris of Colorado Springs, CO; a sister, Judith (Maynard) Shepherd of Platteville; a sister-in-law, Vicky Butteris of Saipan; 24 nieces and nephews; 43 great nieces and nephews; ten great great nieces and nephews as well as other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Friday, September 23, 2011 at the Dodgeville United Methodist Church. Pastor Charlene M. Bennett and Pastor Rom A. Pegram will officiate with burial in East Side Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Friday after 1:00 P.M.
