Lyman H. Smith, 85, Rt. 3,
Logansport, died at 7 a.m. Friday,
Jan. 3,1992, in his residence.

Born in Washington Township
Aug. 18, 1906, he was the son of
Sylvester William and Estella A.
Appleton Smith. On Dec. 22,
1926, he was married in
Logansport to Dorothy B. Shanks,
who died Sept. 3,1985.

He was a farmer, and in the
1940s, he owned and operated
Smiths Grocery in Camden. Smith
graduated in 1926 from Deer Creek
High School and was a former Carroll
County Commissioner and former
county highway superintendent.

Surviving are a son, Richard L.
Smith, Rt. 1, Camden; a daughter,
Jean Heckathorn, Rt. 3, Logansport;
a sister, Pauline Brookmeyer of
Logansport; Five grandsons; and
six great-grandchildren. A sister
preceded in death.

Services were held Monday at
Cree Funeral Home with the Rev.
David Smook officiating. Burial
was in Hopewell Cemetery, Deer
Creek.

Creek Presbyterian Church.
