Jerrie was born on March 31, 1914, in Yankee, N.M., to Peter Charles and Ida (DeLong) Arnhold.
Jerrie received her early schooling in Raton Dawson and Maxwell, N.M.
In 1924 her family moved to Hays, Kan., where she graduated from Hays Public High School in 1932. Jerrie participated in the Girl Glee Club and the Mixed Chorus while in high school, and as a senior was the editor of the weekly high school news in the Hays Daily News and also of the ten page senior edition.
On Dec. 31, 1939, Emily J. Arnhold and Kenneth W. Holmes were united in marriage in Stockton, Kan. The following year, their daughter, Patricia Faye was born.
Jerrie wrote news for Western Flying Magazine and was published in Pop Ceramic Magazine.
In 1947, Jerrie and her family moved to a farm near Odessa where she was active in the PTA and other activities of her daughter.
Crafts were always one of Jerrie's interests. For a time, she made souvenir items for the covered wagon gift shop on Highway 30 between Odessa and Kearney. She used the trade name Prairie Jerrie.
When Jerrie and her family moved to Kearney, she became interested in ceramics and soon had her own molds and kiln. She attended ceramic and craft shows throughout the state and won a number of awards at the Lincoln and Grand Island Ceramic Shows.
In the 1970's, Jerrie became interested in origami and stationery decorating.
She also enjoyed needlepoint and plastic canvas, crocheting, reading and word find puzzles.
While in Chapman, Jerrie worked with the Senior Citizen XYZ Club and was active in the Methodist Women's Group.
In 1997, Jerrie and Ken moved to Central City and she helped to care for her daughter.
Those left to cherish her memory are her nephew, Terry Arnhold of Cascade Locks, CO. and a host of relatives and friends.
Jerrie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth "Ken" W. Holmes, in 2002; her daughter, Patricia Killham, in 1997; and brother, Sidney Arnhold.
Interment was in the Chapman Cemetery, Chapman, NE.
