SANTA FE — Chariie Dean Britton, 54, of Santa Fe died Thursday at Mainland Center Hospital inTexas City.Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Hayes Funeral Home. The Rev. Fred Millard and Mr. Terry Gibsonwill officiate. Burial will follow at Grace Memorial Park in Hitchcock.Visitation is set for 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.Born Aug. 18, 1935, in Ganado,Mr. Britton was employed by Roy Hunter Equipment Co. in Texas City. He had been a self-employed heavy equipment contractor for many years. A resident of Santa Fe for 22 years, Mr. Britton was commissioner of Galveston Drainage District No. 1 since 1973, serving as chairman and secretary. He was past president of the Galveston County Ranchers Association and past president of the Galveston County Youth Rodeo Association.Survivors include his wife, Pat Britton of Santa Fe; daughters, Cherie Guynes and Patti Worley,both of Alvin; sister, Gloria Wells of Leona; three grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.Pallbearers will be Jody Giamfortone, Jack Doreck, Jimmy Wagner, Tommy Glover, Ron Bridges and Hartley Trammell.Galveston Daily NewsApril 6 1990
