Aurora man dies of injuries in May 18 motorcycle accident

Timothy Haines Ayers, 25, son of Samuel Haines and Jane Avery Ayers of Main Street, Aurora, died Monday in Auburn Memorial Hospital of injuries received in a motorcycle accident on May 18 in Aurora.
Born in Auburn, Mr. Ayers was a life resident of Aurora. He was a 1967 graduate of Southern Cayuga Central School and attended SUNY at New Paltz. He was employed at Wells College and was a member of the Aurora Presbyterian Church.
Survivors besides his parents include two brothers, Augustine R. Ayers of Ellenburgh Center and Avery T. Ayers of Aurora; one sister, Lucinda A. Carnahan of Philadelphia, Pa.; one niece and one nephew; several aunts and uncles.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Robert Herst of the Cooperstown Church officiating. Burial in Oak Glen Cemetery, Aurora.
Friends may call Wednesday 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Shakleton Funeral Home, Main Street, Aurora.
Those desiring may contribute to the Aurora Ambulance Fund in memory of Mr. Ayers.
Ayers lost control of his motorcycle and struck a tree on Lake Road in the Town of Ledyard, just south of Aurora and was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of AMH.
He was Cayuga County's ninth traffic fatality of 1975, compared with six at the same time last year.
His father was Samuel Haines Ayers.
