Verona Florina (went by Florina) Ziegler was the third of ten known children of Johann Daniel (went by Daniel) Ziegler (1784-1837) and Anna Maria (went by Mary) Rominger Ziegler (1785-1872), whio married 25 Mar 1809 at Stokes (now Forsyth) County, North Carolina. Daniel and Mary had four children in North Carolina before moving to Indiana in about 1818 where they had their last six children.

Florina married her distant cousin Joseph Reid (became Reed) (1812-1894) on 17 Dec 1835 at Bartholomew County, North Carolina. Joseph was the sixth of nine known children of Jacob Reed (1774-1843) and Anna Maria (went by Maria) Hummel Reed (1776-1857), who were natives of North Carolina and moved to the region of Hope, Bartholomew County, Indiana and are both buried at the Hope Moravian Graveyard there.

Florina and Joseph were the parents of six known children (five girls and one boy) and raised an additional two children (one boy and one girl) that were related to them.
The six birth children were:

1. Sanford Alexander Reed (1837-past 1910)
2. Mary Elizabeth Reed Snyder (1840-1915)
3. Eliza Emmeline Reed (1842-1844)
4. Matilda Rebecca Reed (1845-1848)
5. Anna Sophia Reed Sowers (1846-???)

and in addition they raised:

7. Anderson Reed (1842-???) (not known who he was the son of)
8. Mary (Zeigler or Zrilda or Zerilda or Zynilla) Reed (1847-1897), daughter of Caroline Catherine Zeigler (1819-1847) (younger sister of Florina) and David Samuel Reed (1814-1886) (younger brother of Florina's husband, Joseph Reed).

In 1850 the parents (Florina and Joseph), Sanford, Mary E., Anna J. (sic) and Mary C.(Z?); along with Florina's widowed mother Mary Ziegler were living at Haw Creek Township, Bartholomew County, Indiana. In 1860 the parents (Florina and Joseph), Mary, Sophia and Amy; along with Crilda (Zerilda, age 13) and Anderson (listed out of order from their births), along with Florina's widowed mother, Mary Ziegler, were still living at Haw Creek. In 1870 the parents (Florina and Joseph), daughter Amy, Florina's widowed mother, Mary Zeigler, Mary Z. Reed (age 23) and another Mary Reed (age 3, who was she?) were still living at Haw Creek Township. In 1880 Florina and Joseph, along with Verilda Ried (age 33, almost certainly Mary Zerilda Reed) were still living at Haw Creek.

In 1885 Joseph Reed (age 82), Florina (age 75) were living with the family of their married daughter; Charles S. and Anna S. Reed Sowers at Gale, Marion County, Kansas.
