The most extraordinary woman we have ever known, Mrs. Edith Marie Gregory, age 57, of Alma, AR went to her heavenly home on Sunday, September 18th 2011. Her passing is a great loss to her family, but a blessing to heaven.

She was a Registered Nurse at St. Edward Mercy Medical Center in Fort Smith, a member of the Century Club at St. Edward Mercy Medical Center, and had also worked for Drs. Beachy and Bradford.

Edith was preceded in death by her parents; Dovie and Maurice Chaffin, a sister; Norma Childers, a brother; Charles Chaffin, an infant brother Harold Chaffin, and her mother and father-in-law; John and Naomi Gregory.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 pm Friday, September 23rd, in Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel, with interment to follow at Gill Cemetery in Van Buren, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.

She is survived by her husband Johnie, of the home, a daughter Amy Bell and her husband Jake of Alma, AR, 2 sons; Tony Gregory of Kibler, AR, Robert Gregory of Alma, AR, 2 sisters; Patsy Jones and her husband Ray of Dallas, TX, Sue Hopkins of Van Buren, AR, 5 brothers; James Chaffin and his wife Thelma of Gainesville, TX, Melvin Chaffin and his wife Patricia of Fort Smith, AR, Billy Chaffin and his wife Brenda of Wichita, KS, Tommy Chaffin of Van Buren, AR, Doyle Chaffin and his wife Monica of Denton, TX, and 4 grandchildren; Ethan Gregory, Spencer Gregory, Levi Bell, and Kaileigh Gregory.

Pallbearers will be her nephews; Buddy Halsey, Joe Hopkins, Nick Halsey, Brandon Halsey, Steve Holmberg, Vince Chaffin, Austin Chaffin, and Randy Childers.
