Funeral service for GySgt (Retired) Jimmy Standridge will be 1:30 p.m., Friday, November 29, 2019 at the Becker-Rabon Funeral Home Chapel with Curtis Erwin, Senior Pastor of Crossroads Baptist Church, Elgin, Oklahoma officiating.
Burial with full military honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

GySgt (Retired) Jimmy Standridge, 90, Lawton, Oklahoma passed away Monday, November 25, 2019 in Lawton. He was born February 6, 1929 in Wilburton, Oklahoma to William Abraham and Myrtle Kizzie (Webster) Standridge. He grew up in Wilburton and later moved to Faxon, Oklahoma where he met and married his first wife, Evelyn Louise Cox on October 3, 1947. Evelyn passed away on November 1, 1993.

Jimmy joined the United States Marines and had one tour of Vietnam and two tours of Okinawa along with traveling to various places around the world during his 20+ years. While in the Marines he served mainly as an automobile mechanic but also as a motor transport maintenance chief.

Following his retirement from the military Jimmy began working at Crow’s Radiator Shop as a radiator specialist and worked there until his final retirement in 1992. Jimmy later married Gay Coody on June 21, 1994. He enjoyed racing sprint cars, flying small aircraft as a pilot, hunting, fishing and spending time with his family and friends. He was also known as being a practical joker and character to his friends and family. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Elgin, Oklahoma and a member of Elgin First United Methodist Church, Elgin, Oklahoma.

He is survived by his wife Gay of the home, his three children, daughters, Sharon K. Goodman and husband Ronald of Star City, Arkansas and Dawn R. Simpson and husband Edwin of Moore, Oklahoma, a son, Jeffrey L. Standridge and wife Tina of Lawton, Oklahoma, three step children, Laura Davidson and husband Reggie of Lawton, Oklahoma, Reta Tsotigh and husband John of Moore, Oklahoma, and Brian Blackburn and wife Suzie of Pearsall, Texas, and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces,nephews, and cousins.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Evelyn, a granddaughter, Diana Dawn Goodman, four sisters and six brothers
