Jane Cary Randolph Harrison of "Longwood" near Boyce died peacefully after a short illness on Wednesday, April 30, 2008.

She was the daughter of Benjamin O'Fallon and Fontaine Jones Randolph and was born on May 21, 1917 at "THE MOORINGS" in Millwood, VA.

She attended the Blue Ridge Country School in Millwood, and graduated from John Burroughs School in St. Louis, MO. During the second World War she served with the Red Cross in Australia and New Guinea. She married Benjamin Harrison of "LONGWOOD" in 1948 and spent the next sixty years of her remarkable life raising a family and dedicating herself to the needs of her community.

Janie was instrumental in the founding of two hugely successful charitable organizations in Clarke County, Help With Housing and FISH, where she continued to do telephone duty up until the time of her death. She was a member of the Goodwill Association in Millwood, and donated land in Millwood to Habitat For Humanity. In 1990 she was named Clarke County Citizen of the Year.

She was a life-long member of Christ Episcopal Church in Millwood.

She will be greatly missed by her three children, Cary Embury, Nancy Thorpe, and Benjamin Harrison, her eight grandchildren, her adoring nephews and nieces, and her many, many friends from all walks of life.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 P.M. on Saturday, May 3, at Christ Church, Millwood followed by burial at Old Chapel Cemetery and a reception at the Millwood Country Club.

As a tribute to Janie's commitment to the church choir, the family suggests that gifts in her memory be designated for the music program at Christ Church.
