He was a native of Mitchell and lived in Savannah since 1940. He worked as a business manager for the Carpenter's Union for 31 years.He served as a Savannah city alderman from 1962-1964.
He was a member of the Carpenter's Local Union No. 256, Alee Temple Shrine, the Bacon Park Senior Blitz and a Mason.
He was a former member of Board of Public Education and had served on the Board of Directors of the American Red Cross. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Temple and the Learners Sunday School Class.
He was a past president of the Building Trades Council and was a lieutenant colonel, Aide De Camp on the governor's staff during the administration of S. Ernest Vandiver in 1959.
SURVIVORS: his wife, Ruby M. Nunn of Savannah; a daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Holbrook L. Mason of Savannah; a sister-in-law, Mary Lee Nunn of McRae; three grandchildren, Susan Robertson, Laurie Gaylord and Barry Mason, all of Savannah; two great-grandsons and several nieces and nephews.
VISITATION: 4-5 p.m. and 6:30-8:30 p.m. today at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
FUNERAL: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel, burial in Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park-East.
