She was born April 22, 1906, in Mont Alto, Pa., a daughter of the late Henry R. and Mary Elizabeth (Moyer) Kreider. She grew up in Toledo, Ohio, lived for a number of years in Gainesville, Fla., and for nearly 50 years in Lewisburg, Pa. Her last six years were spent in Columbus.
She is survived by two daughters, Miriam M. Ziegler and Thomas Baldwin of Tucson, Ariz., and Joanna Z. and Alen Page of Belchertown, Mass.; one brother, Henry R. Kreider of St. Petersburg, Fla.,; one sister, Ruth Hiltner of Cleveland, Ohio; seven grandchildren, David and Pamela Zweizig, Miriam Zweizig and Michael Biggins, Andrew and Holly Zweizig, James Page, Matthew and Sara Page, Rebecca Baldwin and Ruth Baldwin; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Edwin A. Ziegler, in 1967, and by her second husband, John T. Auten, in 1976, and by one daughter, Elizabeth Z. Olson, in 2006.
A memorial service will be held at St. John's United Church of Christ, Lewisburg, in the spring.
Interment will be in the Lutheran and Reformed Cemetery, Rebersburg, Pa.
Mrs. Auten earned a bachelor of arts from the University of Toledo and a master of arts from Columbia University.
She had a long career as a teacher, social worker and a devoted wife and mother.
She was an active member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Lewisburg for more than 50 years.
Her life was filled with volunteer civic, philanthropic and church work, including the American Red Cross, Tri-County Girl Scout Council, the American Association of University Women, the League of Women Voters, the Lewisburg Business and Professional Women's Club and the Lewisburg Civic Club.
