Minnie Lee (Smith) Hill was born one of 13 children, to Charles Dumas Smith and Sarah Jane (Clardy) Smith. She worked in a mill when she was a young woman. She gave birth to nine children.

The mother's name listed in Minnie's obituary is wrong. She was not Sallie Clardy Hill. She should be Sarah "Sallie" Jane Clardy Smith.

Mrs. Minnie S. Hill
Mrs. Minnie Smith Hill, 88, Summerville, died at 9 P.M. Monday in Rome. She was born in Chattooga County on July 9, 1885, daughter of the late Charlie Smith and Sallie Clardy Hill. She was a member of Summerville First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, D. M. Hill, on June 26, 1968.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. W. E. Cohen, East Point, Ga., Mrs. Waldo Reece, Columbia, S.C., Mrs. Fred League and Miss Geraldine Hill, both of Rock Spring; one son, J.D. Hill, Summerville; one brother, Ivis Smith, Ellijay, Ga.,; and several grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 P.M. from the chapel of J.D. Hill Funeral Home, with the Rev. Hilton C. Garrett and the Rev. Wiliard Thrasher officiating. Burial was in Summerville Cemetery.

She was a great cook. She was a very sweet lady...loved and missed by many.
