Former salesman and television repairman John Henry Pounds, 88, of Paris died early Sunday morning, Sept. 18, 2011, at his residence.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Ridgeway Funeral Home.
Duwayne Pounds will officiate. Burial will follow in Eastside Cemetery in Martin.
Named as pallbearers are Tim and Justin Hoskins, Keith, Kelly and Jason Pounds, Clinton and Robert Thrash and Thomas Dial.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Tuesday.
Pounds was born in Bradford on July 14, 1923, a son of the late John Harvey and Ruby Bridges Pounds.
He was married in August 1942 to the former Lena Maydell Wright, who died in 1983. He then was married to Dorothy Williams Pounds, who also preceded him in death.
Pounds was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran. He sold Clifty Farms country hams and advertising for various auction companies. He was a television repairman while living in Fort Worth, Texas.
He leaves one daughter: Cheryl (David) Thrash of Paris; two sons: Jerry (Doris) Pounds of Puryear and Randy L. (Marilyn) Pounds of Benbrook, Texas; one sister: Faye LaPaglia of Milan; one brother: George Washington (Betty) Pounds of Bradford; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; and a longtime companion: Vera Hayes of Camden.
He also was preceded in death by two sisters: Audey B. Hames, Maureen Barnstable and Aliene Hyde; and four brothers: Jay, R.P., Boone and James Pounds.
