Born in Boston, Robert lived during his school years in suburbs of Boston and New York, attending grammar schools at Wellesley MA, Williston Park NY, and Ho-Ho-Kus NJ, graduated from high school in Ramsey NJ, attended Houghton College, Houghton NY, 1947-50, and earned a BA and MS at the U of Iowa at Iowa City, 1950-53, where he met his wife, an Iowa farm girl and graduate nurse. They were married July 9, 1952 at Arthur IA, and raised 6 children: Mary Vigilanti born 1953 in Iowa City IA, John born 1954 in Passaic NJ, Paul born 1956 in Stevens Point WI, Steven born 1959 in Stevens Point WI, Lois Brady born 1963 in Ida Grove IA, and Mark born 1966 in Lansing MI. Robert worked in the insurance business as an actuary Feb 10, 1954 to June 1, 1997. He retired at their last location in Lansing MI and was elected to the Michigan Insurance Hall of Fame in 1997. They were active in churches at each location. In retirement Robert translated Saint Paul's letters from Greek to English and published them, "The Structure of Paul's Letters" at: www.inthebeginning.org
