Funeral services for Rev. Gail Welch, 68, of Anacoco, Louisiana were Thursday, September 22, 2011, at Good Hope Baptist Church in Anacoco, Revs. Wesley Jackson, James Kay & Les Comeaux officiated. Burial followed in the Good Hope Cemetery in Anacoco, LA.

Gail, the son of Jim Olen and Edna Jewel Jeane Welch, was born July 31, 1943, in Leesville, Louisiana. He passed away on Sunday, September 18, 2011, at his residence in Anacoco, Louisiana. Rev. Welch was a minister of the Gospel for 32 years serving several churches in Louisiana and Texas. His last pastorate was in Buna, TX. Upon retiring from the ministry he joined Victory Baptist Church in New Llano, LA.

He served our country in the U.S. Army, and worked as a mechanic at Fort Polk. Gail loved spending time with his family and fishing. But his first love was his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and his life was a testimony of his faith to the Lord even to the end.

He was preceded in death by parents and sister, LaRue Trottie.

He is survived by his wife, of 43 years of Anacoco; three sons of Anacoco; ewo brothers of Anacoco; sister of Florien; one brother-in-law & wife of Leesville; eight grandchildren.

Services were under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
