She was born July 27, 1907 in Forsyth County to John William and Ida Frances Moser Masencup.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Norman Slate in 1999; and also a grandson, Ricky Lynch.
Mrs. Slate is survived by a daughter, a son, four grandchildren, two step grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren; and she is also survived by three special friends.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, Feb. 13, at Mountain View Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Saul officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to; Hospice of Stokes, P.O. Box 10, Danbury, NC 27016 or Mountain View Baptist Church, c/o Leola Barr, 1158 Mountain View Road, King, NC 27021.
