Maleta was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She held many church callings throughout her lifetime and was an avid genealogist. She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and the Mayflower Society. She enjoyed traveling with family and friends both throughout the United States and to several foreign countries.

Maleta was a people person, she loved associating with others. She exemplified the Christ-like attributes of unselfishness, kindness, and gentleness. She believed in the principle of not judging others and loved each person for who they were. She had a lifelong love of learning and encouraged all to better themselves through education.
