Focient A. "F.A." Turner, Jr., 75 of 46300 Rome Parkway, Rome, died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 1997, at his home. He was born in Daviess County, was retired from Carpenter Union Local 1347 and enjoyed woodworking. He was a POW in Germany for 26 months and was a member of Disabled American Veterans. He Was a member of St. Martin Catholic Church, was a Kentucky Colonel and was a fourth-degree member of the Knights of Columbus. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Elizabeth "Liz" Evans Turner; four sons, Focient A. Turner III and David Turner, both of Knottsville, Michael Turner of Whitesville and Jeff Turner of Owensboro; four daughters, Moretta Bosley of Owensboro, Suzann "Sue" Hodskins of West Louisville, Selma Wiesenberg of Orlando, Fla., and Karen Payne of Knottsville; 24 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; thre step-grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert "Bob" Turner of Knottsville and Charles Turner of Roanoke, Va.; and four sisters, Helen Slaton of St. Wendel, Ind., Mildred Hoover and Margaret Beard, both of Owensboro, and Clara Mae Turner of Knottsville. Services are at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Martin Catholic Church in Daviess County. Burial will be in Ressurection Cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Haley-McGinnis Funeral Home in Owensboro. Prayers will be said at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Hospice Association Ince. P.O> box 1403, Owensboro, KY 42302.
