MARGARET WILSON MOOMAU COFFMAN

Margaret Wilson Moomau Coffman of Petersburg, West Virginia and Clearwater, Florida died Monday, April 15, 2002 at a hospital in Clearwater of complications from pneumonia.

She was the daughter of the late William C. Moomau and Sara Taylor Moomau and is survived by her husband of 46 years, Charles E Coffman; two brothers, George B. Moomau of Petersburg and Henry F. Moomau of Oakland, MD; two sisters, Mary M. Clark of Petersburg and Sally M. King of Warsaw, VA, and many nieces and nephews and their children.

She was born in Petersburg on January 25, 1925, and graduated from high school there. After graduation from Dunsmore Business College in Staunton, Virginia, she worked for the American Red Cross in Washington, D.C. and in Atlanta, Georgia. In 1960, she and her husband moved to Virginia Beach, Virginia, where she was employed by the law firm of Edward Caton. Upon her husband's retirement, they moved back to Petersburg, where she worked for many years for the Grant County Bank, which her father had co-founded in 1902.

Later, she and her husband traveled extensively within the United States and abroad. Margaret was an active member of the Petersburg Presbyterian Church and did volunteer work for various groups. She was deeply interested in the Moomau Public Library. She was also a member of the Grant County Historical Society.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2002 at 11 a.m. at the Petersburg Presbyterian Church with the Rev. C. William Cox officiating. Interment at the Maple Hill Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Moomau Public Library, 18 Mountain View Street, Petersburg, West Va 26847.
