Born September 1, 1900, died September 13, 1944 at Rockingham Memorial Hospital, Harrisonburg, Va., after a brief illness.
The elder son of Mrs. Kittie D. Anderson and the late W. B. Anderson. He was born at Franklin, W. Va. and lived his entire life in that community, gaining a myriad of friends in this and many adjoining counties by his fair dealing and integrity in his business relationships.
He was an extensive landowner and stockdealer and was considered one of the top-ranking judges of livestock in this and surrounding counties including the markets of Baltimore, Md. and Lancaster, Pa. He was preceded in this stock business by his father, the late W. B. Anderson and was in business with his brother, the late W. D. Anderson. His great love for the out-of-doors and wild life and the beauties of nature suited him in his business, since this life took him into the fields that he so much loved.
He united with the Franklin Presbyterian Church, March 11, 1916, under the pastorate of the late Dr. C. R. Lacy.
With the passing of Mr. Anderson, his friends feel a keen sense of loss which was partially expressed by the great number of floral pieces. His many acts of kindness reached far and wide and will be remembered by those he helped for many years.
Services were conducted at the home of his mother, Mrs. K. D. Anderson, by the Rev. J. W. Myers, on Friday, September 15. Music was rendered by a quartette consisting of Mrs. T. J. Bowman, Mrs. Kathleen Lunsford, Mr. H. L. Byers, Dr. O. F. Mitchell, who sang "How Firm A Foundation," and "Abide With Me." Interment was made at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Franklin, W. Va.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Marguerite B. Anderson; his son James McClure Anderson, his mother, Mrs. K. D. Anderson, adopted daughter of the late John and Rebecca McClure and his sister Miss Effie H. Anderson, all of Franklin, W. Va.
