DeWITT, Iowa — Timothy Jay Calhoun, age 48, of DeWitt, Iowa, died Wednesday evening, September 14, 2011, at Trinity Pathway Hospice at Bettendorf, Iowa, with the presence of his loving family.
Tim was born January 6, 1963, in Moline, Ill., to Stan and Ann (Buzard) Calhoun. He was a graduate of Central Community Schools, DeWitt. Shortly after his 21st birthday, Tim was severely injured while working on a car at home. His parents lovingly cared for him in the years to come. Even though he was a quadriplegic, Tim became an excellent artist. He penned many drawings of NASCARS. Tim certainly overcame his handicap through drawing.
Tim loved cars as well as his nieces and nephews dearly. He never let his problems get him down and was very much an inspiration to others. Tim was a great listener and a man of great faith and patience. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Surviving are his parents, Stan and Ann; siblings, Kevin Calhoun of Clinton, Iowa, Bryan Calhoun of Low Moor, Iowa, and girlfriend, Julie of Clinton, Iowa, Lori Holst and her husband, Tim, of Princeton, Iowa, and Nicole Calhoun and fiancé, Chris of Davenport, Iowa; nieces and nephews, Haley, Garrett, Wyatt, Carly and Chase; grandmother, Marge Buzard of Moline; and uncles and aunts.
Preceding Tim in death were his grandparents, Roland and Minnie Calhoun, and James Buzard.
Family and friends may visit at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, from 4 until 7 p.m. on Monday, September 19, 2011. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday in the funeral home. Pastor Dianne Prichard will officiate, with burial in Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt.
