He was one of four children born to Moses and Jennie B. Tyson.

The family appears in the 1900 Federal Census of Precinct 3, Nassau County, Florida. The household included: Moses Tyson, age 39, born February 1861 in Florida to parents from Georgia, married 14 years, a farmer; Jennie B., age 30, born August 1870, married 14 years, four children, born in Florida to a father from Cuba and a mother from Florida; Clarence P, age 12, born January 1888 in Florida; Leonard, age 10, born March 1890 in Florida; Clemont, age 4, born December 1895 in Florida; and Catherine, age 5/12, born December 1899 in Florida.

The family had moved to Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida by the 1910 Federal Census and were living on Forest Street.

Clement registered for the World War I Draft on June 6, 1917 in Jacksonville. He gave his birthdate as June 3, 1895 in Fernandina Beach, Florida. He was employed as a railroad hostler by Seaboard Air Line.

Local Boy in Service Dies.
News was received here today of the death at an army hospital in Jersey City of Clement M Tyson, aged 22, of The United States engineer forces. Mr Tyson was taken with mumps some time ago when on a transport ready to sail for overseas duty. He became so ill that he was removed from the ship and placed in the army hospital, where his death occurred today.

He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. M Tyson; a sister: Mrs W P Deakle, and a brother C P Tyson all of Jacksonville. And another brother, L L Tyson of Shawnee, Okla.

The body will be shipped immediately from Jersey City and the funeral will be held here under the direction of Marcus Conant.
