SAW NEARLY A CENTURY.

Jeremiah Malcolm Dead===Age 92 Years,
10 Months, 20 Days.

Jeremiah Malcolm, thirty-one years a resident of Clay county, died at the home of his son Hugh, near Longford, May 24, after an illness of several weeks. A few more years and his life would have spanned a century of time. He was born in Oxford county, Canada, July 14, 1808.

He was married in 1835 to Mrs. Elizabeth Wintermute. They became pioneer settlers of Barry county, Michigan, in 1860 where they remained until the spring of 1870, when they came to Clay county and settled in Chapman township, sharing the successes and failures incident to pioneer life, the joys and sorrows of their neighbors. The wife of his bosom died seven years ago and was preceded by two of their children.

Mr. Malcolm became a member of the Baptist church when a young man and remained a faithful member until his death. He bore the afflictions of old age and decrepitude with true Christian fortitude and answered the final summons with courageous acquiescence.

He leaves 4 children 28 grand-children, 5 great-grand-children and hosts of friends and neighbors to mourn their loss. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. H. L. Price, assisted by Rev. B. Hillier.
