28 March 1757 - William Gowen {of Kittery} was a Private in the Train Band commanded
by Noah Emery.

On 7 January 1772 William Gowen, of Kittery, accompanied by his two sons, Ezekiel and Stephen, moved to Sanford, York, Maine.

On 9 March 1774 William Gowen, of Sanford, bought property on Sturgeon Creek in Kittery from his half-brother, James Gowen of Falmouth.

On 1 March 1781 Willam Gowen conveyed
the 'Iron Works Lot' to his son, Stephen.
