Clora Pepper, 84, Dies in Albany
Mrs. Clora Pepper, native of Scio and who always preferred living here, died Sunday at Albany General Hospital after only a few days illness. She was 84 years old
She was born in Scio, January 2, 1889 and was reared here and received her education here.
She married George Clarence Pepper March 5, 1939 in Albany at the old Christian Church which memorable building was located at the n.w. corner of Fourth Avenue and Broadalbin Street. They made their home at Camas, Wash. and worked for Crown Zellerbach Co.
They returned to Scio and later lived in Bend, Ore. before moving to Albany. They returned to Camas where she worked for Crown Zellerbach until retirement in 1957. They moved to Antioch, Calif., until 1963 and returned to Albany, Mr Pepper died in 1963.
She was the first woman to vote in Scio after it was legal for women to vote. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Albany, also of Royal Neighbors of American and Beulah Chapter of Rebekah Lodge No. 35, IOOF.
Services were held this Thursday at AAsum Funeral Chapel at 1:00. p.m. with Pastor Wayne Bryant officiating. Burial follows at Willamette Memorial Park.
Survivors include a son, Raymond E. Peterson of Antioch, Calif; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Services for Clora Bell Shelton Pepper, 84, 2125 E. 4th Street, who died Sunday, will be 1 p.m., Thursday at AAsum Mortuary, Rev. Wayne Bryant officiating. Interment will be in Willamette Memorial Park.

She was born in Scio and had lived in Albany since 1963, coming here from Antioch, California. She spent much of her life in Camas, Washington, where she was employed by Crown Zellerbach Corporations. She was a member of First Christian Church, Royal Neighbors of America and Rebekah Lodge.

Surviving are son Raymond E. Peterson, Antioch; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Her husband George died in 1963.
