Graveside service for MSG (Retired) Henry Shipman, Jr., 70, Lawton will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at Highland Cemetery.
Sergeant Shipman passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2015 at his home in Lawton.
Burial with full military honors will be under the direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home.
He was born October 24, 1944 to Henry and Dora Shipman in Essex, Missouri. Henry grew up in Hoopeston, Illinois where he joined the United States Army at the age of 17. He earned his GED and associates degree in electrical engineering while proudly defending his country during the Cold War era with the Pershing Nuclear Missile Battery. He married Inge Jager on July 20, 1965 in Ingelheim, Germany.
He is survived by his wife, of fifty years, of the home, two children and their spouses, Jeannette and Michael Pierce, Blair, Oklahoma and Frank and Kelly Shipman, Denison, Texas, brother, Larry Shipman, Hoopeston, Illinois, two sisters and their spouses, Louise and Ed Atkinson, Clarkrange, Tennessee and Darlene and Ray Mayberry, Westville, Illinois, two grandchildren, Kelli Shipman, Denison, Texas and Caitlin Whitehead and her husband Dale, Altus, great grandchild, Oliver Grammer and step grandchild, Ryan Marcus.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Silke, grandson, Grant Shipman, three brothers, Charles, Elmer and Hershel Shipman, two sisters, Earline and Verline and his mother-in-law, Anna Jager.
