Harriet Ann Nichols, 92, of Morning Sun, died Saturday, May 23, 2009, at Morning Sun Care Center in Morning Sun.

Born March 13, 1917, in rural Wapello, she was the daughter of Archie and Willa Umphrey Wolfe. On August 27, 1937, she married Robert K. Nichols in Morning Sun. He died October 4, 1994.

Mrs. Nichols was a childcare provider at her home for more than 30 years. She attended Oakland Country School. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Morning Sun where she served on the parsonage committee and the Harvest Fest committee. She enjoyed gardening, baking and caring for her yard.

Survivors include two daughters, Sherry Robb and Merry Bonar, both of Morning Sun; one son, Robert Nichols of Morning Sun; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one grandchild, her parents, one sister and four brothers.

Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Friday at Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Morning Sun. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Centenary United Methodist Church in Morning Sun.

The funeral for Mrs. Nichols will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 30, 2009, at Centenary United Methodist Church with the Reverend Sue-Ellen Sherman and Pastor Ramona Wink officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Morning Sun. Lunch for family and friends will follow at the church.

Memorials have been established for Centenary United Methodist Church; Volunteer Fire Department and Ambulance Service, both of Morning Sun, and Morning Sun Community Building Fund.
