Frederic Ludwic August Stein died at his home in Russell June 25th, 1912, after an illness of six weeks, caused from a complication of diseases. Deceased was born February 27th, 1845, at Wurtemburg, Germany. He came to American in 1874 and to Russell County eleven years ago, moving to Russell city three years ago. In August 1876 he was united in marriage to Amalie Koerber at Ann Arbor, Mich. Five children are living, as follows: Rev. Sam A. Stein, Springfield, Ohio; Augusta Stein, Russell; Emil A. Stein, Holbrook, Nebr.; Mrs. Martha Koerber, Russell; Julius A. Stein, Larson, N.D. Deceased has two brothers, Johann and Carl Stein, living in Germany. Rev. Stein was for many years an active minister of the German Lutheran church and as such did much work for Christianity in general and the church in particular. He was a patient sufferer through all his illness and died confident in the faith he professed. Funeral services were held in the home today, by Rev. Perchel and Rev. Bishoff, and the body was taken to Milberger Cemetery for burial.

Rev. A. Stein passed away at his home in this city Tuesday after an illness of several weeks. His advanced years and a complication of diseases were the cause. Since his retirement from active work in the ministry, he has made Russell his home where he has spent his declining years quietly and peacefully. He was born in Wurtemberg, German, February 27, 1845, and was married in August 1876 at Ann Arbor, Michigan to Miss Amelia Koerber, having come to America two years before. He came to Russell County in 1901. His living children are Rev. Samuel A. Stein, Springfield, Ohio; Miss Augusta Stein, Russell; Emil A. Stein, of Holbrook, Nebraska; Mrs. Adolph Koerber, of Russell and Rev. Julius Stein of Larson, North Dakota. The funeral service was held at the home Thursday by Rev. Peschel of the Milberger Church and interment was at the church cemetery there.
