SISTER ANNE MONICA RUANE, SND (Mary Elizabeth Ruane) 88, died Sept 16, 2011 at Notre Dame Long Term Care in Worcester. Sr. Anne Monica entered the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur on Sept. 1, 1941 and received her education at Emmanuel College in Boston. She received her First Vows on January 30, 1944 and then her Final Vows on July 30, 1949. During her 70 years of religious life, sister served many ministries from a teacher to Principal. She taught in Lawrence, Dorchester, Woburn, and North Dartmouth. She began administration as Vice Principal of Bishop Stang High School in Dartmouth, then was Principal at St. Mary's in Cambridge and Tyngsboro. She took time in Provincial Administration in Ipswich, then 20 years at Notre Dame Academy in Hingham as Principal and then Alumnae Development. She leaves several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Sr. Anne Monica's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, September 19, 2011, at 3:00 PM, at Our Lady Queen Chapel, 30 Jeffrey's Neck Rd., Ipswich, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend, and may pay their respects on Monday from 1:00 until 3:00 PM prior to the Mass. Burial in Notre Dame Cemetery, Ipswich.
