Son of Mary Jane Stanton and John Parish of Marlboro County, South Carolina. Husband of Mary Magnolia Manning.

John died of the flu during the 1918-1919 influenza epidemic.

Note1: John's SC death certificate says burial was to be at "Red Bluff" cemetery but his tombstone is at Stanton Cemetery in Clio. His parents are also at Stanton.

Note2: The spelling of this family's surname varies in records as Parish or Parrish. Census records show both spellings. Son Ottis' signature is Parish but his death record and SS Death Index have Parrish. John's death certificate has Parish yet his daughter Doris' death certificate says his name is Parrish. Daughter Elma's birth record has Parrish; however, John's parents' tombstones have Parish. Overall, it appears that the spelling morphed from Parish to Parrish in this timeframe.
