From the Greenfield Vedette, July 27, 1922 -- Mrs. TH Berry --
Brief mention was made last week of the death of Mrs. TH Berry, which occurred at the family residence July 14th, at 4:45 pm.

In tribute to Mrs. Berry (Berdit Smith), we feel she deserves more than a passing notice, so loved and admired by those in whose midst she had passed the greater part of her life. A beautiful Christian whose modest virtues were ever radiant in the home and the large circle of friends.

Berdit S Berry, daughter of James M and Cytha Smith, was born December 4, 1850, in northern Missouri, and moved to this county with her parents at the age of four years. She was the eldest of eight children, of whom three survive: E.J. Smith of Plainview, Texas, E.H. Smith of Lindsey, California, and Mrs. J. G. Shouse of Greenfield, the latter being the only one present at the funeral.
Mrs. Berry was married to the surviving spouse October 28th, 1883. To this union four children were born, one dying in infancy. The three surviving are Howard Berry of Everton, Elbridge of the old home, and Cytha McConnell of Dadeville. Mrs. Berry obeyed the gospel early in her teens.

The funeral services were conducted at the Dadeville Christian Church, where she had long been a member. Elder W.H. Watson made the talk a comforting tribute to the bereaved husband and children, whose hearts are bowed with grief. May the great source of comfort that was hers in affliction be theirs in this deep sorrow. "Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord." -- Revelations 14:13

Berdit married Thomas Helm Berry October 28, 1883 in Dade County, Missouri. She passed away at age 71 from Hemiplegia, which is paralysis of one side of the body. Berdit had this for little over a year according to her MO Death Certificate, most likely from a previous stroke. Son Howard Helm Berry is the informant.
