born of Welsh heritage on the 4th of Feb.,1838 in Abersychan,South Wales to William Morgan(died 1895 in Harding,Bourbon County,Kansas) and Ann Morris (died April 1866 in Cardiganshire, United Kingdom). Rachel was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints in 1846 according to family records and in record of member: July 2,1849 by William Morgan.
Rachel married Charles Drew Brown May 18,1859 in Blaina,Aberstruth,Wales.
The Brown's set sail from Liverpool. Once in the States they traveled from New York to Brady Bend,Armstrong,Pennsylvania. A year later they traveled to Wyoming,Nebraska where they joined William Henry Chipman Ox train to head west July 13,1866. Charles and Rachel had 4 children,Sarah Ann age 6,William Charles age 2,Rebecca age 4 and Gomer a baby. Somewhere along the way William Charles and Rebecca died, they were wrapped in blankets and placed in shallow graves with heavy rocks to discourage wolves from disturbing them.
Once in the valley Charles started providing for the family.

Again tragedy strikes when the set of twins Edwin and Edward who as 3 year olds, sampled the local vegetation, which proved to be poisonous berry and died within 5 days of each other.
In 1873 they took up homestead in Sandy,Salt Lake County,Utah. Charles built a 5 room underground home. There 5 more children were born while they lived in that home: Rachel,Elizabeth,Lorenzo,Mary May(died young) and Benjamin.
Rachel died July 25,1902
Charles married Jane Elizabeth Hardcastle Dec. 17,1902. He died October 11,1914 and was also buried in Sandy City Cemetery.
