Melba passed away on Sunday, November 22, 2015, at Stewart House Retirement Living. She was born on June 25, 1921, in Temple, Georgia, to the late W.C. "Buster" Adams and Kate Wessinger Adams.
In the early '70s she and her late husband Bobby Marchman owned and operated The Arcade Café on the Square. In her later years Mrs. Melba served as a nanny for several local families whose children she loved dearly. She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Bobby Marchman; her husband, Clyde Jones; son, Robert Kim Marchman; sisters, Grace Davison, Dorothy Parrish, Bonnie Ragland, and Gladys Hall; and brothers, Carl Adams, W.C. Adams, and L.F. Adams.
She is survived by her daughter, Tona M. and Sharon Couch of Carrollton; daughter, Teresa M. and Eddie Brannan of Carrollton; five grandchildren, Lynn W. Burns of Newnan, Lee. W. and Mitchell Burns of Whitesburg, Dottie W. and Nathan Priest of Dallas, Douglas Vincent and Lei Hanson of Bremen, Robert G. and Christine Hanson of Carrollton; and 10 great-grandchildren, Tyler Burns, Emily Parker, Abby Burns, Kelly Burns, Austin Priest, Katie Hanson, Will Hanson, Madeline Hanson, Kauffman Hanson and Holden Hanson.
Funeral service for Melba Marchman Jones will be Tuesday, Nov 24, 2015, at 11 a.m. from Martin & Hightower Funeral Home with Rev. Glenn Dyer officiating. Burial will follow in the Carroll Memory Gardens. Those serving pallbearers will be Vince Hanson, Rob Hanson, Austin Priest, Will Hanson, Mitchell Burns, and Tyler Burns.
