Dora M. Rice died Wed (Feb 4, 1987) at the Valley Lutheran Hospital in Mesa, Ariz, at the age of 74.

She was born July 22, 1912 at Hildreth, Nebr, to Harm and Hinrika (Groothuis) Alberts Sr. She was baptized in Hildreth and after the family moved to Culbertson she was confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church. She married Verlyn J. Rice on June 5, 1939 at St. John's in Culbertson. She was member of Peace Lutheran Church in McCook, the Lutheran Ladies Guild, the Southwest Golden Huskers RV Club, Red Dale Campers Club, and a charter member of the Lutheran Ladies Guild of Culbertson.

In 1973 she was elected National Red Dale Grandmother.

Survivors include her husband, Verlyn of McCook; two daughters, Mrs. Joe (Yvonne) Tickles of Merriam, Kans, and Mrs. Robert (Verleen) Kuhlmann of McCook; five brothers, Albert Alberts and John Alberts, both of McCook, Walter Alberts of Oxford, Elmer Alberts of Palisade, and Harm Alberts Jr. of Culbertson; two sisters, Etta Haussler of Emmett, Idaho, and Ella Rathe of Culbertson; two grandchildren, Darcie Kuhlmann and Garth Kuhlman, both of McCook, and three step grandchildren, Kathy Bard of Kansas City, Kans, Brian Tickles and Mike Tickles of Merriam, Kans.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Andrew Alberts; two infant sisters and one infant brother.

Services were held Mon (Feb 9, 1987) at Peace Lutheran Church in McCook with Pastor Don Stuckwisch officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery.
