US Congressman. A North Carolina farmer, he later became President of the North Carolina Railroad and the Yadkin River Railroad. He served in the North Carolina Constitutional Convention of 1865 and the North Carolina State Senate in 1870, and was elected to the United States Congress from North Carolina, serving from 1873 to 1875.
