Marquerite Marueen (Thackery) Walker, 99, Batesville, Died Peacefully Monday Jan 24, 1t Crown Point Senior Living Center, Greensburg, Indiana. She was the Wife of the late Owen Walker and is survived by three Children, Frank walker (Margot) New Hampshire, Wesley Walker (Judy) Batesville, and Vergis Sharp (John), New Point. Grandchildren, Fern Baumer (John) Batesville, Andrew Walker (Jessica) New York, Annette Martin and Tammie Wonning, Florida, Bradley Walker (Becky) Kentucky ad Wendy Blank (Brian) Washington State. She is also Survived by 12 Great Grandchildren and one Great Great Grandaughter, Margarete was preceded in Death By her Parents Logan and Virginia Thackery, ifant son Chestly Walker, siblings, Benjamin, Harley, and Louise Thackery, Although she was raised in the New Point Area. she Moved to Cameron Missouri her senior year. She Graduated from Cameron Mo in 1930 and Methodist Hospital School of Nursing, Indianapolis, in 1935. The Registered Nurse served as Director of Nursing at Margaret Mary Hospital. She was a Ripley county Red Cross Honory Board Member, She was a passionate Fisherman, gardener, canner and Genealogist. She was alsoo an Active member of the Batesville United Methodist Church and a Member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was never Bored. Her family said she was the best euchre Player in the family and also was the fastest Hickory nut meat picker that they know of. She was MVP of the High School Girls Soccor Team. She and Gladys Nolte Helped start the tradition of making the Chrismons for the churchs children, a Tradition still carried on today. She Joined the Toastmasters a Speaking Group, when she was in he 90s
Visitation will be wednesday, Jan 26, from 4-8 pm at Meyers Funerall Home with OES Services at 7 pm Funeral Services will be there Thursday Jan 27, at 11 am with the Rev Larry Dimick officiating. Burial will be in Old Salem cemetery south of Batesville. Memorial are Suggested to the old Salem Cemetery or Hospice of Decatur County.
