A good old man has fallen in his ripened years. He died a little after 12 noon, Sunday the 5th, and was buried Tuesday at 10:30. Just 6 weeks before, his good wife died on Sunday and was buried at 10:30 Tuesday following. For about a year the old man had suffered from the gradually growing disease that finally took his life, but he silently and patiently bore the pain. Had he consulted a physician his life might have been prolonged for some years. Father Loy has made a good record, and his long life may be written down as a successful one. A pioneer in Page county he has been one of her industrious, thrifty, useful, honest and honorable citizens. He was a man of earnest and firm convictions and of good and worthy impulses. His family had grown up and were all settled in life, except one, a young woman grown, and now the old old Loy homestead, so long a shining center of comfort and happiness--a home from which heartfelt of love has radiated in substantial help to all around--is ended. Of father Loy it may be said, "In peace he lived well nigh his three score years and ten, in peace he ceased to live, in peace was gathered home in nature's course, so it can scarce be said he died at all." Rev W.W. Merritt of Red Oak conducted the funeral services. THE CLARINDA JOURNAL, Clarinda, Iowa, Oct 9, 1885
Doctors Van Sandt, Lewellen, Enfied and Millen made a post mortem examination of the diseased part of Job Loy's body. He died of hypertrophe of the prostrate gland. Or in less technical language the passage from the bladder was enlarged and obstructed. THE CLARINDA JOURNAL, Clarinda, Iowa, Oct 9, 1885
