QUINWOOD - Elvan E. McClung, 77, died Friday, July 5, 2002, at his home after a sudden illness.
Born Jan. 19, 1925, in Quinwood, he was a son of the late James Preston and Edna Lea Hedges McClung.

Mr. McClung was a member of John Page VFW Post No. 4484, Rainelle, the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans and National Rifle Association. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, from which he received a Purple Heart and two Oak Leaf Clusters. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Quinwood, and had been a barber for 30 years.
He was preceded in death by a stepson, Jerry Dean Billings; three sisters, Nellie Jennings, Maude Keaveny and Elizabeth Meadows; and a brother, Ralph McClung.

Survivors include his wife, Lorene Pittsenbarger McClung; a daughter, Donna Fay McClung of Miami Beach, Fla.; three stepdaughters, Sylvia Lohr of Cumberland, Va., Sandra Sanders of Madison and Pamela Lewis of Crichton; a son, Harmon Conway McClung of Loveland, Ohio; a stepson, Larry Billin gs of Colonial Heights, Va.; two sisters, Verna Rosewell of Gauley Brid ge and Florence Hight of Kissimmee, Fla.; a brother, Fred McClung of McCross; 17 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home Chapel, Rainelle, with the Rev. Houston Boothe officiating. Burial will follow in Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Clintonville.
Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
