Hubert was born in Osage Co., Missouri to Johann Krautmann and Cecilia Nix.
Hubert served in the 29th Regiment, Enrolled Missouri Militia during the Civil War.
Hubert was married to Gertrude Margaret Samson on Nov. 10, 1868 at Loose Creek, Missouri, and they had six children. After her death, Hubert was married to Margaretha Wilbers on Nov. 23, 1883, in Osage County, and they had a daughter, Annie. Hubert was married to Maria Lucia Bode-Luebbert, on Jan. 21, 1890, in Linn, Missouri. She had two children from a previous marriage.

In the death of Hubert Krautman which occurred in the home of his son, Joseph Luebbert, near Wesphalia in Osage County, October 20th, lost one of it's most sturdy, honest, and upright citizens. He was 77 years and 6 months old and had lived his whole life in this country. He was married three times: namely, Margaret Samson of which union were born the following three children: Mrs. Joseph Luebbert, Conrad H., and John Krautman. His 1st wife died and he remarried to Margaret Wilbers, of which one daughter, Mrs. William Haslag was born. Mr. Krautman's 3rd marriage was to Mrs. Mary Bode Luebbert. The deceased is survived by his widow and the 4 children listed above.
