Funeral services were at the Smith Family Funeral Home in Throckmorton, Texas on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
Dorris was born Feb. 2, 1919, in Round Timber, Texas in Baylor County, to O.H. and Lillian Baxter Parker. She graduated from Seymour High School at the age of 16 and went to Denton to attend Texas Womens University. She left college during WWII to return to Round Timber to teach school. She worked for the Department of Agriculture for a short period of time. Dorris married Guy W. London, Jan. 3, 1943, in Throckmorton, Texas and he preceded her in death on Jan. 22, 1998.
After marriage, Dorris was a stay at home mom. She did substitute teaching in Throckmorton. She later attended nursing school, became a LVN and worked at the hospital and nursing home in Throckmorton.
She went to work at one of the first Home Health Services in Seymour. She retired in 1986 and helped her husband on the family farm. They resided on the family farm for 55 years and ran the cattle operation until 2003, when she moved to Granbury to be closer to family.
She was a member of the Elbert First Baptist Church.
Besides her husband, Guy, she was preceded in death by a son, George London; four sisters; one brother; and her parents.
Survivors include: one daughter, Sharon Johnson and husband, Rhett, of Granbury; son, Tom London and wife, Susie of Calvin, Okla., daughter-in-law, Lela London of Vernon, Texas; sister-in-law, Elizabeth London of Throckmorton, Texas; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.
