BRIGHAM CITY -Doyle Dean Mellen, passed away on Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at the Ogden Regional Hospital.
Dean was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on April 11, 1940 a son of Glen Stewart Mellen and Evon Stout Mellen Greener.
He attended West High School in Salt Lake City. Dean married Judith Jensen on February 28, 1959 in Elko, NV. He served in the United States Air Force from 1959 to 1964 Stationed in Lackland AFB, Texas, Gunther AFB Alabama, and Mountain Home AFB, Idaho.
Dean was a member of the Brigham City Fire Department since September 1973 and has served as Fire Chief twice.
One of the founders of Golden Spike Trap Club and past President.
He had worked at Capitol Glass in Salt Lake City and had been a Manager of Northern Utah Glass for 24 years. He was the Owner and Manager of Dean Mellen Glass since March 11, 1988, he retired in 2005.
His greatest joys were going to the cabin in Blacksmith Fork, motorcycling, snowmobiling, hunting, trap shooting and puttering. He has enjoyed spending time with his family and feeding the neighborhood birds.
He was a self educated man that ran a successful business and served his family and community with wisdom and foresight.
Survived by the love of his life, Judi, four wonderful much loved children; Douglas (Jeanine) Mellen, Shari (Rich) VanDyke, Pamela (Brandon) Gunnell, Julie (Chuck) Gailey, 12 grandchildren, eight great-grand-children and one that Grandpa hasnt sent to us yet, two brothers; Dent (Dee) Mellen, Donald (LaVerne) Mellen.

Preceded in death by his parents, Glen Mellen and Evon Greener and his wifes parents, Wallace and Kate Jensen and his grandparents.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Myers Mortuary Chapel, 205 S. 100 E., Brigham City, UT.
Friends may call on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 to 10:40 a.m. at the Mortuary.
The Brigham City Fire Department supports the University of Utah Burn Center, in lieu of flowers donations may be made to Fire Department in Dean's name.
Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery.
